Daniel Wright Pond Again

"Daniel Wright Pond Again"

Oil on canvas panel
In the nine o'clock hour this morning, this little pond near my home reflected colors other than green. From this time on, we will be noticing more orange creeping into the landscape. And a fair share of it creeping across the pond, in the form of some sort of scum, as well. Corn flowers dotted the foreground and so did a few magenta and peach-colored leaves. It's changing, I tell you.

Pond View

I was at Daniel Wright pond this morning with my painting buddy. I tackled the same view as I did the last two times I was there. This is the last time I'll paint his green scene. I know It'll be fabulous in the fall, but for now, it's just to much green.

Next week when we go I'll try a different view of the pond, or maybe a different park altogether.

Across the Pond

"Across the Pond"
8" x 10"
Oil on canvas panel
This is my second plein air painting from Sunday morning.  It was a larger format and a closer view of the shore across the pond.

I'm leaving Illinois for a week to paint with more new people.  I'm driving to Iowa to attend the Andrew Orr workshop in South English, Iowa.  I hope to be able to post, but I'm not sure what my capabilities will be.  Left to my own devices, and a rickety old laptop, I may not figure it out. But when I return in July, I'll have lots of things to post and hopefully a new enthusiasm and honed skills for landscapes.
