Nestled

"Nestled"

Oil on Hardboard
I visited a home a few days ago that had a nest like this displayed under a bell-shaped dome. I became so infatuated with the nest, cut from branches in her own yard that I had someone photograph it for me. This is something like her nest, but as we know, each one is a work of art that can't really be duplicated.

I adore these tidy, woody vessels where some of nature's most fragile elements get to tenant safely.

The Yolk's on Humpty

"The Yolk's on Humpty"

Oil on hardwood panel
It's my birthday—The Winter Solstice—the longest night of the year.  This whimsical piece demonstrates how I feel about life. Sometimes ya balance, sometimes ya break. Better learn to make omelets!

My recent egg paintings prompted someone to give Ol' Humpty, here, to me.  He was from a Happy Meal.  I collect small chairs, nests and birds, so Humpty seemed like a logical addition.

Spring Stuff

I was a faux finisher and muralist for many years.  When that phase of my life came to an end, I missed it.  This piece pays homage to a lot of years learning how to manage enormous expanses of wall with a degree of expertise.

This piece is sold, but lives on in my heart.  And before it left for its new home I added a third egg to the nest. However, I did not get a photo of that addition.

This painting will be shown on Daily Paintworks, but it is not for sale.  That would be silly.

Thanks for visiting my nest today.
